Rev. Rachel Helgeson is the current pastor of FPC Mt. Vernon.

Rachel is a 2012 graduate of Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary and served as the student body president and a founder of Agape Theatre. Rachel also received two awards, "The Esther Horner Award" a student nominated award recogizing the student who made the greatest contribution toward community life on campus and the "Alum Award for the Outstanding Graduating Senior" a faculty nominated award honoring the most outstanding graduating senior.

Prior to her in ministry in Mt Vernon, Rachel served as the Lilly Pastoral resident at First Presbyterian Church of Dallas. While at FPC Dallas she had the opportunity to preach; teach a variety of Sunday School classes; provide pastoral care; develop and attend multi-generational fellowship events; lead and write liturgy for worship; attend ecumenical Dallas Fort Worth gatherings, and lead downtown community ministry events at the Bridge and the Stewpot both servicing the Dallas homeless community. At the upper governance level Rachel served as the moderator of the Grace Presbytery Young Adult Council, was a key planner for the Mo Ranch (the Synod of the Sun retreat center) Young Adult retreat, and lead youth at the Mo Ranch Presbyterian Association of Musicians conference.

Rachel is excited to serve as the pastor FPC Mt. Vernon and merge her gifts of leadership, her heart for the body of Christ in and outside the walls of the congregation.
